One Year Post-Roe: Reflections, Celebrations, and Ongoing Advocacy

Created: JANUARY 25, 2025

The first anniversary of the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade has sparked a range of emotions and actions across the nation. Pro-life supporters are commemorating the ruling, while pro-choice advocates continue to voice their dissent and concerns.

Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood clinic director who now identifies as pro-life, expressed her perspective on the anniversary during an interview on Fox News. Having personally experienced two abortions, Johnson now views the overturning of Roe v. Wade as a cause for celebration and remembrance for the lives lost to abortion. She also emphasized the potential impact of the decision on future choices women may make.

However, pro-choice voices remain active. Vice President Kamala Harris shared her strong reaction to the overturning of Roe v. Wade in a video posted on Twitter, describing her outrage and emphasizing the need for continued action. President Biden also expressed his views on the anniversary via Twitter, criticizing the Supreme Court's decision and highlighting executive actions taken to promote access to reproductive healthcare, including contraception.

Johnson, drawing on her experience within the abortion industry, has dedicated herself to assisting others who wish to leave similar roles. She founded the organization "And Then There Were None," which provides support to individuals seeking alternative career paths. The organization offers financial aid, legal counsel, career resources, and educational scholarships. Johnson also highlighted the organization's efforts to expose alleged wrongdoing within abortion clinics, leading to the closure of several facilities based on information provided by former employees. She described unsanitary conditions, alleged failures to report statutory rape, improper sterilization practices, and alleged instances of babies born alive not being resuscitated.
