Ohio School Accused of Bullying Campaign Against Mothers Exposing Left-Wing Bias

Created: JANUARY 21, 2025

Two Ohio mothers, Amy Gonzalez and Andrea Gross, have filed a complaint alleging that Columbus Academy, their children's school, initiated a bullying campaign against them after they questioned the school's alleged left-leaning curriculum and financial practices. The complaint claims the school retaliated by denying their children re-enrollment and falsely accusing them of being threats.

Gonzalez and Gross assert that their requests for transparency regarding the curriculum and financial matters were met with an extreme response from the school administration, including contacting the police and informing nearly 900 faculty members that the FBI had been alerted about the mothers posing a danger. Gross shared that the alleged retaliation created a hostile environment within the community, ultimately forcing her daughter to transfer to another school out of state.

The complaint, filed in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas, seeks damages and details an allegedly hostile environment for conservative students at the school. It alleges that the curriculum included critical race theory, which the mothers considered indoctrination. Furthermore, the complaint claims a teacher openly declared they wouldn't communicate with students supporting President Trump, and politically charged discussions were commonplace in classrooms without presenting alternative viewpoints. It also alleges that Latino students like Gonzalez's daughter were not offered the same level of inclusion as other minority groups.

Following a public letter from the mothers expressing their concerns about alleged intimidation and bullying of students based on political beliefs, the school’s head of security reportedly filed a police report against them. The complaint also states that the school informed faculty members that Gonzalez and Gross had been reported to the FBI. Gonzalez describes this as "predatory alienation." During a faculty meeting, a teacher allegedly questioned whether the children of the mothers should be treated differently, and another referred to them as "moles."

The complaint asserts that the school's actions significantly impacted the mothers' well-being, falsely accusing them of being dangerous and damaging their reputations within the community. Columbus Academy denies all allegations, stating they are "entirely without any legal merit or factual basis whatsoever" and maintains that parents engaging in public campaigns with false statements and attacks against the school would violate the enrollment agreement and be denied re-enrollment.
