Created: JANUARY 14, 2025

Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) has been appointed to lead a new House task force dedicated to declassifying federal secrets. Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) selected Luna to chair the "Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets," which will delve into records related to the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., among other topics of public interest.

The task force's scope extends beyond the assassinations, encompassing investigations into Jeffrey Epstein's client list, the origins of COVID-19, documents related to 9/11, and UFO phenomena. Comer and Luna have initiated the process by sending letters to relevant agencies, including the State Department, Department of Energy, CIA, NSA, Department of Defense, and the Justice Department, requesting access to pertinent documents.

This initiative follows former President Donald Trump's executive order mandating a plan for the complete release of all JFK assassination records. The order also called for a review and subsequent release plan for records related to the RFK and MLK assassinations.

Comer emphasized the importance of transparency and public access to information, stating that the task force will build upon the Trump administration's declassification efforts. Luna echoed this sentiment, highlighting the public's right to know and the need to restore trust in government institutions.
