Jets Resisting HBO's "Hard Knocks" Spotlight

Football fans eagerly anticipate HBO's "Hard Knocks" each year, offering a glimpse into NFL training camp life. This year, the spotlight is firmly on Aaron Rodgers and his new team, the New York Jets, making them a prime candidate for the show.

However, the Jets seem less than thrilled about the prospect. Head Coach Robert Saleh recently expressed the team's reluctance, stating they are not interested in participating.

Unfortunately for the Jets, the NFL might mandate their involvement. Teams are typically exempt if they have a new head coach, recent playoff appearances, or a "Hard Knocks" appearance within the last ten years. The Jets meet none of these criteria, leaving them vulnerable to selection.

The New Orleans Saints, Chicago Bears, and Washington Commanders are the other teams currently eligible for the show. Interestingly, a team hasn't been chosen yet, despite the Detroit Lions being announced in March 2022 for that summer's series. However, there is precedent for later selections, like the Dallas Cowboys in July 2021.

Adding to the intrigue, the Jets have been producing their own behind-the-scenes YouTube series, "Flight," since 2021. This raises questions about whether the team's existing content plays a role in their resistance to "Hard Knocks."
