Created: JANUARY 24, 2025

Residents of Hermitage, Tennessee, a town just outside of Nashville, are increasingly frustrated with the escalating issue of squatters and homeless encampments impacting their community. They are urging city officials to take decisive action to address the problem.

Brittany McCann, a Hermitage resident, voiced her concerns to Fox 17 Nashville, highlighting the detrimental effects of squatters residing in makeshift homes and RVs parked in lots and on streets. She emphasized the accumulation of trash and waste left behind by these individuals, stating, "Something needs to be done."

McCann recounted her experience with a squatter who established an encampment with his dog in a nearby parking lot. Despite her calls to city officials leading to the squatter's removal, he quickly relocated and set up camp elsewhere. This cycle of removal and relocation has repeated multiple times, leaving McCann feeling exasperated.

McCann expressed her concern over the potential dangers posed by the squatter's elaborate setup, which includes furniture, building materials, a trailer with electricity, air conditioning, and a generator. She questioned the activities taking place within the structure, suggesting the possibility of illegal operations such as a meth lab or a puppy mill.

According to Fox 17 Nashville, the squatter has displayed messages on his trailer claiming harassment by residents and expressing frustration over being photographed.
