Federal authorities have apprehended two undocumented immigrants allegedly involved in a significant drug and firearms trafficking operation spanning Maryland and Georgia. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) made the arrests on Thursday, coinciding with the indictment of ten individuals in New York City linked to a similar operation.
HSI Baltimore released an image showing one of the individuals being taken into custody. The agency also shared photos of the seized weaponry, which reportedly included over 30 firearms. This operation was a collaborative effort between HSI Baltimore and HSI Atlanta, with support from the ATF's Baltimore field division, the Baltimore Police Department, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
The identities of the two individuals remain undisclosed. Fox News Digital has contacted HSI and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) seeking further information regarding the individuals and the extent of their activities.
This incident follows a major bust in New York City on Wednesday, where eight undocumented immigrants were arrested for their alleged involvement in a widespread arms and drug trafficking ring operating across at least six states, with purported plans for international expansion to Colombia. Authorities confiscated 34 illegal firearms, including AR-15 assault rifles and a modified Glock 9mm with automatic capabilities. The suspects are also accused of distributing dangerous narcotics, including "pink cocaine."
All ten individuals arrested in New York City are reportedly Venezuelan nationals who entered the United States without authorization through the southern border. In a separate incident during the New York operation, one of the suspects allegedly injured a police officer, resulting in additional charges.
Immigration authorities have intensified efforts to deport violent undocumented immigrants, a policy that has gained momentum since President Donald Trump's recent return to office.
