Ex-Fiancée Accused of Aiding in Murder Plot of Texas Woman

Created: JANUARY 27, 2025

Holly Ann Elkins, the 32-year-old former fiancée of Andrew Charles Beard, has been arrested in Miami and charged with conspiring in the 2020 murder of Alyssa Ann Burkett, Beard's ex-girlfriend and the mother of his child. Elkins faces charges of conspiracy to stalk, stalking with a dangerous weapon resulting in death, and brandishing a firearm during a violent crime.

Beard and Burkett

The indictment alleges a disturbing series of events leading up to the murder. Elkins and Beard are accused of purchasing and placing a GPS tracker on Burkett's car in the summer of 2020. Elkins allegedly made false reports to police about Burkett's driving and even accused Burkett's mother of assault. The pair are also accused of planting drugs and an unregistered firearm in Burkett's vehicle and then falsely reporting her to authorities for drug dealing. Furthermore, they allegedly purchased a van, makeup for a disguise, shotgun shells, and a knife in the weeks preceding the murder.

On October 2, 2020, Beard, disguised in blackface, allegedly shot and stabbed Burkett multiple times in the parking lot of her workplace. While this occurred, Elkins reportedly remained at Beard's residence with his child. Beard initially provided a false alibi to investigators, claiming he was home at the time of the murder. He later pleaded guilty to cyberstalking with a dangerous weapon resulting in death and discharging a firearm during a crime, receiving a 43-year prison sentence.
