California Man Accused of Killing Three Women in Tijuana, Crossing Border After Each Murder

Created: JANUARY 27, 2025

A Los Angeles man has been apprehended by U.S. authorities and is facing accusations of murdering three women in Tijuana, Mexico. The suspect, 30-year-old Bryant Rivera, a Downey resident, allegedly crossed the U.S.-Mexico border after each alleged killing, which reportedly spanned from 2021 to 2022.

Rivera's arrest on July 6th stemmed from the January 2022 strangulation death of Angela Carolina Acosta Flores, whose body was discovered in a Tijuana hotel room. Mexican authorities intend to seek Rivera's extradition to face charges related to the deaths of two other women in Tijuana. Baja California Attorney General Ricardo Ivan Carpio indicated they will present new evidence uncovered during Rivera's arrest in California.

A U.S. federal judge has ordered Rivera to be held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles while extradition proceedings unfold. Mexico has a 60-day window to submit a formal extradition request.

According to Acosta's mother, her daughter worked as a dancer at the Hong Kong Gentlemen's Club in Tijuana and sometimes engaged in sex work. She last communicated with her daughter on January 24, 2022, via text message, learning that Acosta had taken a client, identified as "Bryant Rivera," to a hotel room. After Acosta's body was found, her mother traced her phone to an address in Riverside, California.

Hotel surveillance footage reportedly shows a man matching Rivera's description entering the hotel room with the victim. U.S. Customs and Border Protection records indicate Rivera re-entered the United States through the San Ysidro border crossing shortly after midnight on January 25, 2022.
