Actress Blake Lively is pursuing increased legal protection in her ongoing lawsuit against former co-star Justin Baldoni. Lively's legal representatives have filed for a strengthened protective order, citing "violent, profane, sexist, and threatening communications" directed at Lively, her family, supporting witnesses, and other cast members. These threats escalated following the filing of an amended complaint in the case, which included extensive text message records.

One specific incident highlighted in the filing involves a witness who publicly supported Lively and whose text messages were included in the amended complaint. This individual reportedly received a written threat detailing sexual assault and murder against their family unless they recanted their support for the actress.
Lively's legal team argues that releasing specific details in the discovery process could endanger individuals involved in the case, potentially leading to further threats and witness intimidation. They claim that the release of certain information would create "a defined, specific, and serious injury" to those involved, violating their privacy and creating a hostile environment. Baldoni has been given a deadline of March 11 to submit his own proposed protective order for the judge's consideration. A final decision will be made by the court after reviewing both proposals.

Baldoni's representatives, while condemning any violent threats, have also stated that individuals wrongly accused by Lively in the initial stages of the legal dispute faced death threats and harassment. They emphasized that no one should endure such treatment, particularly private individuals without access to security measures.

The ongoing legal battle stems from Lively's initial complaint filed in December, detailing allegations of sexual harassment and other offenses against Baldoni. Baldoni subsequently countersued, claiming Lively’s accusations were false and an attempt to salvage her reputation after the film's press tour. Lively’s amended complaint includes the testimony of two female cast members regarding Baldoni’s alleged “unwelcome behavior” on set, which Baldoni’s lawyer has dismissed as “unsubstantial hearsay.”
