After a four-decade career in the spotlight and raising three children, actress Andie MacDowell has embraced a quieter life away from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. In a recent interview on "The Drew Barrymore Show," the 66-year-old MacDowell expressed a newfound contentment, stating, "I’m happier now than I have been in a long time." This joy stems from her relocation to South Carolina and a renewed focus on self-care. MacDowell admitted that her children's departure left a significant void, but she now feels she's in a good place.

MacDowell credits her daughter, Margaret Qualley, for inspiring this life change. Margaret, along with her siblings Rainey and Justin, are MacDowell's children with ex-husband Paul Qualley. MacDowell confessed that the transition to an empty nest was challenging, and she didn't initially experience the sense of freedom some mothers describe. However, Margaret encouraged her to embrace this new chapter and find fulfillment. MacDowell now acknowledges she is indeed "having the time of [her] life."

During the conversation with Barrymore, MacDowell also opened up about her experience with piriformis syndrome, a neuromuscular disorder that causes pain and numbness in the buttocks and leg. Initially fearing she might need a hip replacement, MacDowell was relieved to discover her hips were healthy. She now manages the condition through daily exercises, which she credits with significantly reducing her pain.
