Princess Madeleine of Sweden and her family have decided to extend their stay in Florida, pushing back their planned relocation to Stockholm to 2024. The Royal Court of Sweden confirmed the delay, emphasizing that it wasn't due to immigration issues or housing complications, but rather a need for more time to manage the logistics of the move. The princess, her husband Christopher O'Neill, and their three children—Princess Leonore, Prince Nicolas, and Princess Adrienne—will continue residing in the United States, where the children will attend school in the fall. The family plans to spend the summer in Sweden, as evidenced by a recent Instagram post by Princess Madeleine celebrating Swedish National Day.

This postponement comes just months after the palace announced the family's intention to return to Sweden permanently. The original plan was for the children to enroll in schools in Stockholm this autumn, with the family residing in an apartment at the Royal Stables. Princess Madeleine, seventh in line to the Swedish throne, has lived in the US before, working in New York City for the World Childhood Foundation. After marrying O'Neill, they remained in New York before relocating to Florida in 2018. In 2019, it was announced that Madeleine and O'Neill's children, along with those of Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia, would no longer be official working members of the royal family, losing their His/Her Royal Highness titles. They retained their Prince and Princess titles, but these are now considered personal titles. The princess addressed this change on Instagram, expressing support for her children's opportunity to shape their lives as private individuals.
