With a bright smile, Juan Soto stepped into the spotlight, sporting his new Mets pinstripes. The newly acquired superstar was formally introduced in New York, expressing his enthusiasm for the team's future and their pursuit of a World Series title.

While Mets fans celebrate their $765 million acquisition, Yankees fans are understandably disappointed. Seeing Soto in a Mets uniform, especially with his familiar number 22, likely intensifies their feelings.

During a media session, Soto was asked if he had any words for the Yankees fans who had hoped for his return. "I want to express my gratitude to them," Soto stated, via SNY. "They consistently demonstrated their love and support last year. They were there every single day, and they hold a special place in my heart. It's unfortunate that we couldn't make things work, but I truly appreciate everything they did for me in 2024."

Although it may not be the answer Yankees fans desired, Soto acknowledged their unwavering support during his time with the team.

Yankees fans passionately chanted "Re-sign Soto!" at every game, brandishing symbolic blank checks. Soto had a career year statistically, contributing significantly to the Yankees' World Series run. Their affection for him was evident, and they yearned for him to stay.

However, the Mets presented a more compelling offer, surpassing the Yankees' reported 16-year, $760 million deal. Soto ultimately decided to cross the city and join the Mets in Queens.
