Created: JANUARY 24, 2025

An 18-year-old transgender high school student in Indiana, Trinity J Shockley, also known as Jamie or Dex, faces serious charges for allegedly planning a mass shooting at Mooresville High School on Valentine's Day, the anniversary of the tragic Parkland, Florida school shooting. Shockley is currently held without bond in the Morgan County jail, charged with conspiracy to commit murder and intimidation with a threat to commit terrorism.

The FBI, acting on a tip, alerted the Mooresville Metropolitan Police Department, launching an investigation that uncovered a disturbing plot. The tip indicated Shockley had access to an AR-15 rifle, had ordered a bulletproof vest, and was reportedly fixated on Parkland shooter Nikolas Cruz.

A search of Shockley's residence revealed what authorities described as a "shrine" to mass school shooters, including Cruz, Dylann Roof (Charleston church shooting), and Ethan Crumbley (Oxford High School shooting). Investigators also discovered photo albums and buttons featuring the faces of these individuals. Furthermore, notebooks seized from Shockley's room contained entries expressing homicidal thoughts and a desire to harm others.

Analysis of Shockley's Discord and Snapchat accounts revealed conversations about planning a school shooting. Using the username "Crazy Nikolaz" on Discord, Shockley allegedly discussed "Parkland part two" with another user, claiming to have an AR-15 and a detailed plan. Investigators believe Shockley intended to carry out the attack during lunchtime, targeting the largest possible group of students.

While Shockley reportedly claimed the online discussions were a joke, court documents indicate Shockley expressed a desire to emulate Cruz's actions. Shockley also cited bullying and trauma from a previous car accident involving a suspected drunk driver as contributing factors to their mental state. The driver later died by suicide, an event that reportedly impacted Shockley significantly.
