Amidst a raging wildfire in Malibu, California, which prompted evacuations for 20,000 residents, 98-year-old entertainment icon Dick Van Dyke found himself needing rescue from his threatened home. The fast-moving blaze, driven by strong winds, put numerous seaside mansions, including Van Dyke's, at risk.

As the fire approached his property, Van Dyke attempted to use a fire hose but was overcome by the situation. Thankfully, three neighbors came to his aid, carrying him to safety and even extinguishing a small fire that had started at his guest house. In a video interview with Today, Van Dyke recounted the harrowing experience, describing how he saw the fire cresting the hill and his struggle to reach his car before his neighbors intervened.

Security footage captured Van Dyke, his wife Arlene, and their pets evacuating the property. One pet, Bobo, unfortunately, escaped during the evacuation, and Van Dyke expressed hopes for the animal's safety.

Van Dyke's home ultimately survived the Franklin Fire, though neighboring properties and the surrounding hillside suffered significant damage. The fire, which has burned over 2,800 acres, is currently under investigation.

The actor's recent appearance in a Coldplay music video for their song "All My Love" highlighted his long and illustrious career. The video featured Van Dyke with his family, reflecting on his achievements and sharing his perspective on life and death. He expressed a lack of fear regarding mortality, stating a belief that he would "be all right."

The Franklin Fire, which ignited near Pepperdine University, has impacted over 18,000 people and 8,100 structures, with 2,000 buildings under mandatory evacuation orders. Several other celebrities, including Mira Sorvino, Cher, and Barbra Streisand, were also forced to evacuate their homes.
